Designed for the building it lives in.
The network is the one thing everything else stands on, and it is almost always the part nobody planned. Switching, routing, wireless, and segmentation are designed against the floor plan and the workload, then cabled, racked, and commissioned in the room. Hardware is chosen for the site — UniFi, Cisco, and Meraki most often, others where the building argues for them.

Sized to the data, not the sales sheet.
Servers and storage are specified for what the business actually does with them. NAS on site where the work is heavy and local, cloud where it needs to be reachable, and usually both — with the line between them decided deliberately rather than by whichever was easier to buy. Everything is hardened and documented before handover.

Once the infrastructure is in, the practice becomes a rhythm. Seats are provisioned day-one ready, patched fleet-wide, and encrypted as a matter of record. Security posture is written down, tested, and reviewed — an audit whose findings are closed out rather than described.

What actually happens, month by month.
- 01 · Week one
Audit.
Every switch, access point, server, drive, and seat found and written down. Most businesses learn here that they own something nobody has logged into for two years.
- 02 · Weeks two to four
Design and install.
The network is drawn before anything is ordered. Then cabling, racking, and commissioning on site, with the cutover planned around the business rather than around the installer.

Patch and posture.
Firmware and operating systems current across the fleet. Encryption confirmed rather than assumed. One report saying what changed and what it cost.
- 04 · Every quarter
Access and restore.
Accounts reviewed and revoked where they should be. A backup pulled at random and restored, because that is the only way anyone knows it works.
Then it repeats. Hardware ages on a plan rather than by surprise, and the report keeps the same shape — so one quarter reads against the last without a translator.
